Our friend Andrew Carillo (Joan Osborne guitarist) knew Kathena loved singer STEVE MARRIOTT so he suggested THE HIPPY NUTS cover this song written by Steve Marriott for his band HUMBLE PIE. He came over and started it with us, then the 2 inch tape broke, so Tim Champion had to fix that. Shannon Ford hit the snare so hard one of the heads broke during the take too. The vibe was so delicious, it was worth the effort to make that tape work.
What fun it was having legendary singers: TONY NOMINEE ALICE RIPLEY, JEFFERY SMITH,BASIL RODERICK, AND MARK AHLMAN stand in for THE BLACKBERRIES who sang on the original HUMBLE PIE version of the song. ROBERT JOHNSON (guitarist with OX, Isaac Hayes) added electric guitar and "Thirty Days in the Hole" was done!
